Gobhi ke kofte (Cabbage balls)


Cabbage is a green leafy vegetable,good source of vitamin c and fiber.You can also say diet food because of low calories.Kofta is a spicy non-veg dish,originally made of minced meat rolled into a small ball.But Gobhi kofta is the vegetarian alternative to meatballs.Here is my favorite cabbage recipe.....Gobhi ke kofte.

Ingredients:
For kofte(ball) 
  • 250 gm grated cabbage
  • 4 tablespoon gram flour 
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seed
  • 1teaspoon mango powder
  • 2 chopped green chilies
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 2 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • Oil for frying
  • salt to taste
For gravy
  • 6 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 4 tablespoon fried onion
  • 4 tablespoon oil
  • salt to taste
How to prepare:
For kofte(ball)
  1. Mix all kofta ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Shape into small balls.
  3. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Deep fry
  5.  each ball until browned.
  6. Drain balls on a paper towel.
For gravy
  1. Heat the oil in a pan on medium heat.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste,stir for 2 mints.
  3. Add all gravy ingredients,stir it.
  4. Put the lid on and let it cook for 10 mints over medium heat
  5. After that add 1 cup water and bring it to a boil.
  6. Simmer it for another 10 mints.
  7. Place fried cabbage balls in a bowl and pour gravy.
  8. Serve with zeera rice(cumin rice) or plane rice.
You can eat your kofta without gravy or with gravy.
